Ahhh we miss this.

Saturday Night Live queens and supremo Golden Globes hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler teamed up for one of the highlights of the 2024 Emmys on Monday night. To present the award for Best Variety Special (Live), the pair delivered a special SNL Weekend Update brimming with fingergun-worthy zingers.

So, who was up for the award? Rihanna's Super Bowl Halftime Show, or according to Fey, "The concert so good it got us all pregnant." The 95th Oscars, or, as Poehler called it, “The only show that’s longer than when they air Titanic with commercials on TBS," and the 75th Tony Awards, or "celebrating the best in musicals based on movies that will probably be movies again" (a sweet shot from Poehler sitting beside Mean Girls creator Fey).

Also nominated was Chris Rock's Netflix special Selective Outrage. "Chris could be here tonight, but if he wins, we’ll accept on his behalf, because we miss getting Emmys," said Fey.

But the winner was Sir Elton John, for his Farewell From Dodger Stadium live show — and granting him EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). “Now, I can’t speak for Elton, but he EGOT to be excited about that,” said Poehler.

Very good. Bravo. A fine time had by all.
