Shootouts, explosions, and a very on-the-nose whistle cover of "America the Beautiful" await in the latest trailer for A24's Civil War.

Directed by Alex Garland (Annihilation, Ex Machina, and Men) and starring Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, and more, Civil War reveals an all-too-familiar portrait of a polarized United States in conflict with itself. Here, that conflict has escalated into an all-out war, albeit one with some... confusing sides. What is the Florida Alliance? And why have California and Texas, of all states, teamed up to create the Western Forces?

Based on this latest trailer, it appears that both the Florida Alliance and Western Forces have seceded from the wider United States, much to the anger of the militaristic president (Nick Offerman). Photojournalists (played by Dunst and Moura) attempt to keep their families safe and document the ensuing chaos, which includes civilian airstrikes and the destruction of the Lincoln Memorial.

Jesse Plemons, Cailee Spaeny, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and Sonoya Mizuno also star.

Civil War hits theaters on April 12.
